As of this writing we’ve been in Beirut for five days, and as you might expect, it’s been a bit of an adventure. Fortunately, working with kids has taught us a thing or two about adaptability. Brett, Libby, and I are well-seasoned travelers, having been to probably 30-40 countries between us, but none of us had been to the Middle East before, so we’ve been having a lot of exciting new experiences.

Thanks to our wonderful, amazing, new local friends at the MENA Design Research Center, the AltCity coworking and innovation space, and the makerspace Lamba Labs, we’re all set to run our workshop on Sunday and we already have enough participants to make it a success! We’re excited to share some photos and videos with you of our Lebanese kids’ inventions for the characters of City X. There’s a Facebook event here with more specific information.

The power goes out for a few minutes a few times a day here. It barely phases us anymore.

In the meantime, we’re signing up for various Beirut Design Week workshops (I know Brett is excited for Design in Social Impact!), as well as preparing for our Design Week Conference talk on Saturday. Follow City X Project on Twitter or Facebook for updates from us throughout the week!
